One of the reasons I love living in Sarasota is the food! There are so many great restaurants, and I’m always find new ones to try. We have one of the highest concentration of Zagat®-rated restaurants in Florida.
Whether you are new to the area or have lived here for years, one of the best ways to try the best restaurants our city has to offer is Savor Sarasota Restaurant Week.
Last week I was invited to attend a preview for Savor Sarasota. Several participating restaurants were represented, each sharing samples of some of their menu items for the event.
This year, the annual event will run from June 1st to the 14th. 50 of the area’s best restaurants will offer pre-fixe three-course dinner menus for $29 and a multi course lunch menu for $15.
Tuna Lollipop from Tsunami Sushi & Hibachi
Longboat Key Snapper from Michael’s on East
Sea Scallops from Mattison’s Forty-One
Savor Parfait Trio from Libby’s Cafe & Bar
My Recommendations
Tsunami Sushi & Hibachi: We’ve tried so many sushi restaurants in the area, and Tsunami is definitely high on the list. I was able to try the Tuna Lollipop and Big Fish Tartar at the preview, both of which were amazing! I also love their Tempura Cheesecake.
Apollonia Grill: This Greek/Mediterranean restaurant is the home of my all-time favorite mixed drink! Be sure to try the Strawberry Fields martini if you go.
Chart House: If you are looking for seafood, the Chart House is one of my favorites! Their Savor Sarasota menu options sound delicious.
Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar: I don’t order steak very often when I go out, but I felt like I had to try Fleming’s when I was there. It was one of the best I’ve had! Their desserts are out of this world, too.
Seasons 52: This is a new arrival to the Sarasota area, and I love their seasonally inspired menu. One of my favorites is their sea scallops, which are included in the Savor Sarasota menu.
Where I Want to Eat
Drunken Poet Cafe: This is one sushi place in Sarasota I’ve never tried. I’ve always heard good things about it, so I’m excited to try it. Their Savor Sarasota menu options sound great!
Michael’s on East: We were able to try the Longboat Key Snapper at the preview event, and I’ve been craving it ever since. This one is definitely high on the list of places we want to eat at during the event.
Capital Grille:We’ve tried most of the restaurants in the new University Town Center mall, but this is one we still need to visit. The Flourless Chocolate Espresso Cake included in their Savor Sarasota menu sounds divine!
Dry Dock Waterfront Grill: Lately I’ve been wanting to eat at a waterfront restaurant. This is one I’ve never tried, so this would be a great time to test it out.
Do you plan to attend Savor Sarasota? Which restaurants sound the best to you?

Oh man, Minneapolis has a KILLER restaurant week – 4 times a year! It’s such a foodie city. Except dinners are $40 and lunches are $20, and many places offer a wine pairing option with dinner for an extra $15 or so. Such a great deal! This looks awesome. Wish I lived in FL… 🙂

That sushi is SO good! It’s too bad you don’t have a restaurant week near you. It’s a great way to try some local eats.

Fun! I always miss the restaurant/foodie events in my area. Maybe I need to do my own version. Haha! All of these dishes look amazing.

I’ve been thinking about doing a progressive dinner around a few of the local restaurants here. Wouldn’t that be a blast? You should do your own foodie event, too!

I’ve never been there, but this seems like a great time to go! $30 is an excellent deal for a 3-course dinner there.
