Parmesan & Bacon Brussels Sprouts

May 26, 2014 by A Savory Feast 19 Comments

Parmesan and Bacon Brussels Sprouts

When I was a kid, my parents called brussels sprouts “Brussee Sprouts” because they sounded so much like our last name. My brothers and I were told we automatically had to like them because of that. I didn’t always agree when I was younger, but I have grown to like them now.

Parm and Bacon Brussel Sprouts

I am a fan of roasting vegetables anyway, so I knew that would be the perfect way to prepare them. Of course, everything is better with bacon, right? While it may take the nutritional value down a bit, the bacon and cheese make these brussels sprouts so good, even if you typically don’t like them.

Here’s the recipe:

2 cups brussels sprouts
2 tablespoons olive oil
salt
pepper
onion powder
garlic powder
1 tablespoon bacon bits
1/4 cup shredded parmesan cheese

1. Preheat oven to 400.
2. Cut the brussels sprouts in half and arrange on a baking sheet.
3. Drizzle the olive oil over the sprouts. Season to taste with salt, pepper, onion powder and garlic powder.
4. Sprinkle with about half of the bacon bits and cheese, saving the remainder to sprinkle after cooking.
6. Bake for 10 minutes, flip and bake for another 10 minutes.
7. Sprinkle with remaining bacon bits and cheese.

My family has recently decided they adore roasted brussels sprouts. They are like candy as it is, but adding bacon and parmesan? YUM!! I think that could be a meal in itself, right?

I thought I was over Brussel Sprouts after an overdose of them this past winter, but I take that back. I haven’t had them with parmesan and bacon and I’m sure there’s no way this won’t be amazing, It’s time to get the BS one more chance!

Our family has never liked brussels sprouts until we had them at Houstons restaurant where they glaze and grill them. Now I am all set to try them at home and your recipe with bacon and cheese sounds like nothing can go wrong. Who doesn’t like bacon and cheese on anything? I’ll let you know their verdict. Thanks for sharing on Wine’d Down Wednesday.

It really makes a difference when you cook them this way and of course, the bacon and cheese doesn’t hurt! Enjoy!

Before making these I hadn’t made them in so long! But now that I know how yummy they are this way, I will be making brussels sprouts much more often.
