My Blog Makeover from ATN Designs!

July 17, 2014 by A Savory Feast 16 Comments

Blog Makeover RevealI am so excited about my new blog design! I’ve heard a lot of great feedback from my blogging friends, so I wanted to share about the process of getting the blog redesigned and talk about my fabulous designer, Amanda from ATN Design Services.

I started A Savory Feast about 7 months ago and have learned and grown so much since I started. I have gotten to the point where I really want to get serious about blogging and make it into a career. I knew I needed a better design so that I could brand myself and have a site that people love coming to.

When I came across Amanda’s site, I fell in love with her designs right away. Before finding her, I had an idea in mind for the style and look I wanted. The blogs in her portfolio were very similar, so I knew she would do a great job.

My greatest fear in hiring a designer for my blog was that she wouldn’t understand what I wanted and it would turn out to be a design I didn’t like. Amanda started the process of designing my blog by sending me a form to fill out with questions that helped her figure out what I wanted. I was so impressed by how she took that information and turned my vision into a reality.

Amanda was really awesome about making any changes I wanted along the way. I felt like I was being annoying with how many times I emailed her with new ideas or things I wanted changed, but she was always willing to do it!

Blog Makeover Tips

Are you thinking about getting a makeover for your blog? Here are some of my tips for making sure it turns out beautifully:

Tip #1: Choose your designer wisely! I picked Amanda because I LOVED her other designs. When you are looking for a designer, visit their websites and take a look at their portfolios. If you love most of the designs they have done, they should be able to design your site just the way you want.

Tip #2: Visit lots of blogs and get an idea of what you want. Keep a list of several blogs that you really like the look of and share them with your designer.

Tip #3: Think about other elements you want, whether it be a custom Twitter header, custom pin it button, or something like that. Amanda included lots of things that I wanted for my blog, and she has tons of “accessories” that I can order later if I need them.

I’m so glad that I took the plunge and had my blog redesigned. It has really helped me to brand my blog, since everything flows together now. This was one of the first steps in getting serious about blogging, and I was so happy to see my blog grow even more after the redesign.

If you are considering a makeover for your blog, be sure to stop by ATN Design Services and check out Amanda’s portfolio. You won’t be sorry!

Thanks for the tips! It’s the best feeling to have the design unique to you. I’ll keep my logo no matter what, but I might try to look into ANT down the road if I want the layout more customized to my needs.

Did you design the logo and then submit it to your designer? If not, do you know if they are willing to work with my custom logo I made?

She did the logo design for me. I had no idea how to do that, so it worked out great for me. I’m not sure but I think she would be willing to work with your logo.

Hey Rebecca! If you have a logo that you want to keep on your blog, the design can always be worked around it and ensure that the design complements the logo! 🙂
