January Favorites

January 28, 2016 by A Savory Feast 4 Comments

Can you believe the first month of the year is already coming to a close? I’m starting off the year with a new monthly series. I’ll be sharing all of my favorite products that I discovered or fell in love with over the past month.

January Favorites // 5 of my favorite foodie products from the past month.

#1 Ninja Professional Blender: We received this blender as a wedding gift, and this month I decided to see how many different ways I could use it. I made blender brownies, cauliflower “alfredo” sauce, Apple Oat Muffins and more.

#2 Polar Seltzer: If you are trying to cut out sodas, this is an awesome alternative! Lately I’ve been craving something other than water, so I’ve been enjoying these almost every day. They are naturally flavored and don’t have anything bad in them. My current favorite flavor is pomegranate.

#3 Hydro Flask Vacuum Insulated True Pint: I’ve had a Hydro Flask Water Bottle on my wish list for awhile now, but for now I’ve been using this pint as my water glass at home. When I put ice in the cup in the morning, it keeps my drink cold for hours!

#4 Chia Seeds: This is more of a rediscovery for this month. I’ve been on a bit of a smoothie kick this month, so I’ve been adding chia seeds for extra protein. I usually like to add oats to my smoothies too, so what I’ve been doing is putting the oats and chia seeds in with water first and blending them before adding the fruits and other ingredients. It makes for a much better texture!

#5 KitchenAid Food Processor: This was another wedding gift I’ve been trying to use more this month. One of my favorite recipes I created using it lately was my No Bake Peanut Butter Pretzel Bars. If you have some food processor ideas, let me know in the comments!

What were some of your favorite products this month?

We have a Ninja, but it was from the first line, where the motor sits on top of the container. – I love mine, and use it all the time! It’s my blender, smoothie maker, and in the summer sno cone maker. The kids love that it will grind the ice up so fine that you actually have snow! I have seen these bags of chia seeds in Target a lot of times when I’m in there. I’ve been meaning to try them since I drink a smoothie almost every day. I just can’t seem to bring myself too though. We do keep flax seeds, and that texture in a smoothie is way off! (to me anyways) But I would like to try chia seeds in a puddings and what not, those recipes look so yummy!

I never thought to use my blender to make sno cones! That is so smart. You should give the chia seeds a shot! Lately I’ve been blending them with just water before adding in the fruit and other ingredients. It helps to break them up so it doesn’t overtake the texture of the smoothie.
