It’s My 1st Blogiversary!

November 28, 2014 by A Savory Feast 43 Comments

Hip, hip, hooray! It’s my 1st Blogiversary. One year ago, I put together my little blog and hit “publish” on my first post. A lot has happened since then, and I am so excited to be celebrating today!

A Savory Feast's First Blogiversary

I’ve been celebrating all week with My Favorite Things Giveaway and sharing blogging posts that helped me grow this year.

Thank you to everyone who has encouraged and supported me this year! I have learned so much and grown a lot in this past year. It is always such a blessing to read the comments on my posts or see them being shared on social media. I’m so grateful to both my real life friends and those that I have met through blogging for all you do to encourage me.

Q&A with the girl behind the blog

Jenna from A Savory Feast
My absolute favorite thing about blogging has been the community that I get to be a part of. I have made friends through blogging that I talk to everyday and can’t believe I haven’t met in real life. I asked some of my blogging friends to join me in a little Q&A to help you get to know the girl behind the blog…

What is your favorite place that you’ve traveled to? (Mandy from Mandy Living Life) I went to Uganda almost 5 years ago on a missions trip. We stayed right on Lake Victoria, which was beautiful! I also had an overnight layover in Dubai during that trip, and it was so cool to see a little a little bit of the city!

What made you start cooking? (Ginnie from New Home, New Name, New Adventure) I grew up cooking with my mom. She made dinner every night and did a lot of baking, so I learned from her. When I moved out on my own, I discovered Pinterest and started trying new recipes. Then Andrew and I started dating and I would cook for him a lot. We both love food, and so we were always thinking up new recipes and ideas. Eventually I decided to blog about it!

How did you and Andrew meet? (Madison from Wetherills Say I Do) I actually don’t know exactly how we met! We knew of each other through mutual friends in high school and college, but we have since figured out that we even went to the same vacation bible school as kids and didn’t realize it. We got to know each other a little bit during college, but reconnected when Andrew started hanging out with my group of friends a few years ago.

What food item/dish are you obsessed with right now? (Betsy from Heavens to Betsy) Apples! My Fall obsession used to be pumpkin, but I got tired of it. This year I started baking with apples and can’t stop! I made a Caramel Dutch Apple Pie and Slow Cooker Cranberry Apple Cider, plus a few other apple treats.

I can’t be creative in the kitchen, if I wander from a recipe it turns into a disaster meal. What’s your cooking flaw? (Kaylee from Dirt Road Daydreams) I am terrible about checking to be sure I have everything before I start cooking or baking. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had to stop in the middle of cooking to run to the store.

What is your favorite thing to cook- the appetizers, entrees or desserts? (Madison from Wetherills Say I Do) Definitely the desserts! I have such a sweet tooth, and I love to create decadent cakes, pies and cookies for special occasions or just because.

If you could cook with one famous chef, who would you choose and why? (Bonnie from Strong and Sweet) I would probably pick the Pioneer Woman! I love her recipes, but I also think it would be really cool to talk with her and pick her brain since she is a food blogger, too.

What would your last meal be and who would cook it? (Lauren from Sunshine & Sweet Tea) My all-time favorite meal is my boyfriend’s homemade chicken alfredo. So if I knew I was about to eat my last meal, I would definitely ask him to make me that. And of course, I would have to have dessert! Anything that was super chocolate-y would do!

What’s your favorite thing about living in Florida? (Anna from The Beauty Section) The weather! I don’t think I could handle dealing with snow for months up north. While it is way to hot here in the summer, we do get beautiful winters. I also love being close to the beach!

What is your go-to Starbucks drink? (Betsy from Heavens to Betsy) My current favorite is an iced vanilla latte. If I’m not feeling like spending as much, I just get an iced vanilla coffee. I’ve been wanting to try the new Chestnut Praline Latte!

When you’re not cooking, where is your favorite place to go out to eat? (Bonnie from Strong and Sweet) My favorite type of food is sushi! My boyfriend and I love to try new places, and we have quite a few favorites in our hometown. Some of them are included in my recent post, Where to Eat in Sarasota, Florida.

I just stumbled upon your blog via your Hump Day Happenings posts.. you’re in Sarasota? I live there and that would be totally weird in a small world kinda way!! I love being by the beach, we do have some great ones here in SRQ. I also tend to forget something when cooking…I usually get a recipe in my head and decide to make it but then it turns out I’m missing one key ingredient that I have to have!
