Where do you buy your groceries? I used to go different stores each week, depending on what I needed and where the sales were. Awhile back, though, I discovered Winn-Dixie’s fuelperks (I’ll explain more about those later on). I started shopping almost exclusively at Winn-Dixie and have been saving lots of money! Today I’m sharing my tips with you.
This is not a sponsored post. I am a happy Winn-Dixie shopper and wanted to share my experience with my readers!
Before you start saving at Winn-Dixie, you’ll want to get a Winn-Dixie card. It’s free and just takes a minute to sign up for. I keep it on my key chain so I’ll always have it with me. Usually the cashiers are great about asking for it, but be sure to show your card each time.
Winn-Dixie differs from other stores because many of the sales are only available to card holders. I always like watching all the sales be deducted at the end of checkout. My total is always so much lower with the card!
Save at the pump with Fuelperks
This is the #1 reason why I love shopping at Winn-Dixie, so I had to mention it first. For each $50 you spend, you get 10 cents off each gallon of gas you buy from Shell gas stations. If you are doing all your grocery shopping there, it can really add up fast!
Watch for bonus perks throughout the store! You can get an extra 3 to 50 cents off of each gallon by purchasing certain items. I usually can find at least one of these each week.
TIP! Anytime you need to purchase gift cards, get them from Winn-Dixie. You can earn fuelperks on them as well. A friend gave me a great idea for this recently: if you need to make a big purchase from any store, go to Winn-Dixie and purchase a gift card for that store. Then, head to that store and make your purchase. It doesn’t cost you anything extra, but you get even more money off of your next tank of gas.
Meal plan using the weekly sales flyer
A few months ago I got back into the habit of meal planning for the week. We have a monthly budget of $200 for groceries, but I’ve always been able to stay under that amount. I take a day at the beginning of the week to plan out our meals. The first thing I do is check the Winn-Dixie flyer and see what items are on sale.
Always start by looking at what types of meat are on sale. I can often get BOGO bags of frozen chicken breasts. They have great sales on meat, so check which ones are on sale and plan your meals around them.
Stock up on Buy One Get One deals
Winn-Dixie has really upped their BOGO game lately. Usually their flyer will include an entire page of BOGO deals. I always watch for my favorites to go on sale and stock up. This is a great way to save on items we use every week like bacon and blue cheese.
Use coupons to save even more
One goal I have for my budgeting and grocery shopping is to use coupons more often. I just don’t take the time to clip and organize my coupons often enough. I always check the Winn-Dixie flyer for coupons, though. Occasionally they have coupons for $5 off your purchase!
I also check for coupons as I go through the store. They stick coupons on veggies and meat that is getting close to it’s expiration date. If you are going to use it right away, it’s a great way to save a little extra.
Do you shop at Winn-Dixie? What are some of the ways you save?

I’ve never shopped at Winn-Dixie, but Doug is from Florida and talks about the BOGO meat sales all the time and how he survived on those deals in college. I cant wait to check one out and use some of these tips to save money. I’m the worst at staying on budget for groceries but really need to get better about it! Does publix do the same type of things?
Jenna Brussee says
Publix is known for their BOGO sales and they often have a lot of good deals. The main reason I’ve switched to Winn-Dixie is the fuelperks. I spend about the same or less as I would at Publix, but we save lots on gas! The other day we had racked up enough to get 75 cents off per gallon!

We don’t have a Winn-Dixie nearby (I don’t actually know if I’ve ever seen one) but I think these tips would be easy to use other places, too!
Jenna Brussee says
Absolutely! Other than the fuelperks you could use most of these tips to save anywhere.

I never knew Winn-Dixie exists, but I love Kroger for these things, too! But it sounds like Winn-Dixie has even better deals, and these are great tips. 🙂

Does Kroger offer something like the fuelperks? We don’t have those around here.
Gennie says
They do!! It’s so crazy how different parts of the country have different chains!
