Green Beans & Crispy Bacon {Guest Post}

December 15, 2014 by A Savory Feast 4 Comments

Today I am excited to have one of my sponsors, Katie from Twin Stripe, guest posting today! Christmas is coming up, so she is sharing a festive side dish for any holiday party or gathering. Enjoy!

Green Beans & Crispy Bacon with brown sugar sauce // Twin Stripe

Hi A Savory Feast readers and happy holidays to you! This is Katie from Twin Stripe lifestyle blog. Last time I guest posted, I shared my favorite fall quinoa salad. Today I’m sharing one of my favorite holiday side dishes: green beans and crispy bacon with brown sugar sauce. This holiday season, serve your guests something different than than the typical green bean casserole and instead try this decant dish that will have everyone going back for seconds!

Green Beans & Crispy Bacon with Brown Sugar Sauce – serves 6

Ingredients

1 1/2 lbs fresh green beans

8 oz bacon
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 tsp garlic salt
1/2 cup butter
1. Cook the green beans, on the stove or microwave. Fry bacon and crumble it.
2. Melt butter in a small sauce pan over medium low heat. When the butter is melted, add brown sugar and garlic salt to the pan. The sauce will be finished when all ingredients are throughly mixed.
3. When the beans are finished cooking, place in a casserole dish and add the crumbled bacon on top. Pour the sauce over the beans and mix around. Microwave again if necessary before serving. Just be sure not make the sauce too early because brown sugar will cool and harden.
