I’m doing something a little different today. I usually try to stick to food-related posts here on A Savory Feast. That typically means recipes, cooking tips, products I’m loving, and restaurant reviews.
But today I’m sharing a DIY project! These Personalized Cooking Utensils are so easy to make, and cost less than $5. Plus, they are still food-related, right?
These cooking utensils were actually a Christmas gift for my sister-in-law. I had to wait until now to post them, though, because we had our Christmas in January. Both of my brothers were out of town for the holidays, so we postponed our get-together and gift-giving until they came home.
This project is the perfect DIY gift to make for a housewarming party, bridal shower, or for someone who loves to cook. Of course, you could make a set for yourself if you’d rather!
Here’s what you’ll need:
1 Set of Wooden Cooking Utensils (you can purchase these from Wal-mart or the dollar store)
Paint Markers (I used medium tip, but a fine tip may be easier)
Pencil
Step 1: Use a pencil to lightly draw your designs. My sister-in-law loves anything monogrammed with their initials, so I made a few with initials and doodled little designs on the rest of the utensils.
Step 2: Trace over your designs with the paint markers. You can use as many colors as you like! Let dry. Do a second coat of paint and let dry.
And that’s all there is to it! The paint is permanent, but these utensils should still be gently hand-washed just to be safe.
I’m itching to make a set for myself! Now I’ve got some paint markers, so I need some more projects to make with them! If you have any ideas for me, be sure to share them in the comments.
