Love making no churn ice cream? You’ve got to try this Coffee Chip version! A light coffee ice cream swirled with homemade coffee sauce, with mini chocolate chips for the perfect crunch. Grab a spoon and dig in!

This week is #SpringSweetsWeek! I’ve teamed up with a group of bloggers to share desserts and treats that are great for the Spring season. Did you catch the Lemon Cake Pops I shared Monday?
Today I’ve partnered with Door County Coffee and Tea Co. to bring you this tasty coffee-themed dessert.

I used Door County Coffee to create the coffee flavor in this ice cream as well as make the coffee sauce that is swirled throughout. Door County Coffee offers full-pot bags of flavored coffee that is just the right amount to brew a delicious pot of coffee.
My husband and I have been loving trying all these different flavors for our morning coffee! Often when I buy a bag of flavored coffee it loses most of it’s flavor after a few days of being opened. But with these small bags you get full-flavored coffee every time!
For this recipe, I wanted a classic coffee flavor so I used the Black & Tan flavor. Any plain or flavored coffee would taste wonderful in this ice cream, though!

If you have followed along with A Savory Feast for long, you know I’m a big fan of no churn ice cream! I don’t own an ice cream machine and I think the whole process is pretty time-consuming. But no churn ice cream is so simple and can be customized in so many ways!

I think the perfect ice cream is a lightly flavored base, a sweet sauce swirled throughout, and something for texture or crunch. This ice cream hits all the bases!

Coffee Chip No Churn Ice Cream
Love making no churn ice cream? You've got to try this Coffee Chip version! A light coffee ice cream swirled with homemade coffee sauce, with mini chocolate chips for the perfect crunch. Grab a spoon and dig in!
Ingredients
For the Coffee Sauce
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 cups very strongly brewed coffee (divided, some will be used later for the ice cream)
- 3 egg yolks
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
For the ice cream
- 2 cups heavy whipping cream
- 1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk
- 3 tbsp coffee (reserved when making the sauce)
- 1 cup mini chocolate chips
Instructions
For the coffee sauce:
- Scald the heavy cream and 1 cup of the coffee together in a sauce pan. Set aside.
- In the bowl of your stand mixer using the whisk attachment, whisk the egg yolks and sugar together for 8-10 minutes or until it is very thick. Slowly pour in the coffee mixture.
- Return the sauce to the saucepan on the stove and cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until the sauce begins to boil and thickens. Remove from the heat and stir in the vanilla.
- Let cool and then refrigerate until cold before adding making the ice cream.
For the ice cream and assembly:
- Whip the heavy cream in the bowl of your stand mixer using the whisk attachment for about 5 minutes or until soft peaks form.
- Remove the bowl from the mixer and use a rubber spatula to gently mix in the sweetened condensed milk and the 3 tbsp of coffee. Once it is combined, mix in the mini chocolate chips.
- Place half of the ice cream mixture into a loaf pan (I like to line with parchment paper to make clean up easier but this is optional). Drop spoonfuls of the coffee sauce into the ice cream and use a knife to swirl.
- Repeat another layer, adding the remaining ice cream to the loaf pan and swirling more coffee sauce in. Top with a drizzle of coffee sauce and extra mini chocolate chips.
- Cover and freeze for at least 6 hours or until frozen. The ice cream will stay good in the freezer for about a week.
