Have you been making healthy changes to the way you eat this year? I started making changes last year, and set a few goals for new changes to make in the new year. This cookbook couldn’t have come at a better time!
I received this cookbook to review from Blogging for Books. All opinions are my own. This post contains affiliate links.
Clean Slate: A Cookbook and Guide: Reset Your Health, Detox Your Body, and Feel Your Best. The title promises a lot, and this book does not disappoint! It starts out with a healthy-eating guide that gives 11 “golden rules” and introduction to what you should be eating.
Next is a 3-Day and 21-Day Action Plan to help you reset and detox your body. The plans use recipes from the book and talks about the purpose of each day or week and how it will benefit you.
This cookbook is filled with recipe after recipe of flavorful, unique recipes that are good for you. They use smart swaps to make some of your favorites and a few new recipes, too.
This year, I’ve been trying to pay more attention to the nutrition of my food. We have been trying to eat less calories and try more gluten-free (or at least wheat-free) recipes. One of my favorite things about this cookbook is that it gives the nutritional information for each recipe, including calorie counts.
Andrew and I tried the Almond-Crusted Chicken Breast with Spinach pictured above. We eat a lot of chicken, so we are always looking for a new way to mix it up. This recipe was so simple to make, but tasted so good! The texture of the almond “breading” was wonderful!
My biggest struggle when it comes to eating better is my sweet tooth! This cookbook ends with lots of desserts that aren’t as bad for you.
If you are eating better in the new year, I highly recommend this book! It’s a great way to add a few new healthy recipes to your repertoire. Eating better doesn’t have to be boring with the tasty and nutritious recipes from Clean Slate!

What is one thing you are looking forward to in 2015?
One thing that I’m looking forward to in 2015 (besides the arrival of spring, because I’m totally not a winter girl), is my wedding! My fiancé, AJ, and I just got engaged on Christmas Eve and we’ll be tying the knot in late August. I’m really excited to spend the next few months planning and then to get to celebrate with all of our friends and family!
