Cilantro Steak Sauce

May 5, 2014 by A Savory Feast 19 Comments

cilantro steak sauce

My boyfriend recently got a steak with a cilantro sauce when we went out for dinner. It was amazing! We had never had a sauce like that and it really complemented the steak. As usual, when we find something we love at a restaurant, we attempt to make it at home.

This sauce does take a little bit of time to make, but I love how fresh everything is! The nice thing is that you can make the sauce and then set it aside to focus on making your steak.

Of course, you could “cheat” and use dried cilantro, lemon juice from a bottle and garlic from a jar. But look how bright and delicious it looks when made with fresh ingredients!

Here’s the recipe:

1 medium garlic clove
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup coarsely chopped fresh cilantro
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

1. Mince the garlic and mix with the salt, pressing it into a paste.
2. Combine garlic, salt, cilantro and lemon juice in a food processor and blend until smooth.
3. Serve on top of your favorite steak.

I love cilantro! I know it’s a love it or don’t kind of herb, but I think it gives everything such a fresh flavor.

You should try this with a fresh herb salad — it adds a fantastic brightness to the steak! Recipe: http://twoforksonelove.com/culinary-challenge-brazilian-part-two/

This looks really good! I make a mango salsa with cilantro, but that is the only thing I know to use cilantro in, so I’m glad you posted this recipe. Thanks bunches!

Is it possible that it was Chimichurri? Sometimes Chimichurri has parsley AND cilantro. Looks really yummy!
