The holiday season always puts me in the mood to do some baking! There’s nothing like mixing together a batch of cookies with Christmas music playing.
This year baking (or cooking, for that matter) looks a little different for me with a baby in the house. It definitely took a lot longer than usual to get these cookies baked and decorated.

You’ll probably have most of the tools necessary for this recipe in the house, such as cookie sheets, a rolling pin and Christmas cookie cutters. Another item you’ll need is the cookie sticks pictured above.
I’ve found them at Walmart or at crafting stores such as Michaels. If you don’t feel like searching for them at your local store, you can order them on Amazon for cheap!

My favorite part of making Christmas cookies like these is decorating them! When I was growing up we had an annual “cookie baking day” right before Christmas with all my aunts and cousins. We always had a lot of fun frosting and decorating sugar cookies. It brings back memories to make them again!

Once your cookies are all decorated, keep them covered on the counter and they will last for a few days. They are great for sharing! Give them as gifts or bring them to holiday parties.

Christmas Cookie Pops
What's better than Christmas cookies? Christmas Cookie Pops, of course! A soft sugar cookie baked from scratch, topped with your favorite frosting and sprinkles. These make great gifts! Perfect for making and decorating with kids.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
- 3 1/2 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Red, White and Green Frosting , (store bought or homemade, you can either buy colored frosting or use food coloring like I did)
- Holiday Sprinkles
You Also Need:
- 20 Cookie Sticks, available at crafting stores, Walmart/Target or online
- Christmas Cookie Cutters
Instructions
- In a stand mixer, cream the butter and sugar together. Add in the eggs and vanilla and mix until combined.
- In a separate bowl, mix the dry ingredients. Add the dry mixture into the wet mixture, a little at a time, and mix well until a dough forms.
- Chill the dough for at least 3 hours.
- Preheat oven to 350 F.
- Flour your surface and roll out the dough to about 1/4 of an inch. Use the cookie cutters to cut shapers. Insert the cookie sticks into the dough. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes or until just beginning to brown.
- Transfer cookies to a wire cooling rack and cool completely.
- Frost cookies and decorate with sprinkles.

I love that William ‘helps’ you in the kitchen. 🙂 I miss the days of Lady Baby being as small as him, as she loved to watch. Now, she wants to help, and it gets messy quick. 😉 That said, we have a blast, and I wouldn’t change it for the world.
And these cookie pops – swoon! Well done, woman! I’m definitely gonna try some of these this year and decorate them with my overeager toddler, hehe. Thanks for baking up such a delicious recipe for The Sweetest Season!
