Whether you are a new visitor or a faithful follower, come learn a little more about me today! I asked for your questions last week and today I’m answering them in this fun behind-the-scenes post.
A couple weeks ago I did a Reader’s Survey in preparation for my 2nd blogiversary. One of the themes I saw quite a bit in the answers was that people want to hear more about me and my life! While I try to weave some stories and news about me into my regular posts, I thought it would be fun to do another Q&A-style post today.
I’m also sharing a few of our engagement pictures from the talented N&J Photography! It’s crazy that we are now just ONE MONTH away from our wedding day!
Now, let’s get to the good stuff! Thank you to everyone who asked a question on Facebook or Twitter.
Why did you decide to start blogging? I had always thought about doing a food blog one day. Two years ago I decided to finally give it a try because I needed a new hobby. I was also finishing up college and wanted to do something with marketing, so I figured learning how to maintain and grow a blog and use social media to market it would be great practice. It turns out, I ended up making the blog into my career!
When you decided to start blogging, out of all the topics out there, what made you choose a food blog? I actually had the idea to start blogging AND to do a food blog at the same time. I loved cooking and being creative in the kitchen. Pinterest was one of my favorite places to find inspiration, so I was familiar with food blogs and knew it was something I would enjoy doing.
Have you ever wished you had a different type of blog? I absolutely LOVE food blogging and definitely don’t plan to stop doing it! But I have been dreaming lately of starting a second blog. Andrew and I just bought a house and we have been doing lots of DIY projects. I think it would be so much fun to start a blog about home DIY projects. Maybe one day…
What is your favorite type of food to make? Probably anything that involves bacon! One of my favorite things to do is see what I can come up with based on the ingredients I have in the house.
What is your favorite type of food to eat? Sushi! I’ve tried making it at home a couple times and it turns out pretty good, but I still prefer to go out for it.
Where do you get your recipe inspiration? Everywhere! Pinterest, other food blogs, restaurants…
What are your wedding colors? The main color is plum. The bridesmaid dresses and a lot of the decorations are plum, and then we have some accents of gold and silver.
How did you and your fiancé meet? We grew up in the same area with a lot of mutual friends so we knew of each other for most of our lives. I think we officially “met” in college but didn’t start hanging out until Fall of 2012, when Andrew ran into a couple of my friends and they invited him to hang out with us. We had a group of friends who got together every week for Taco Tuesday, and that is where we got our start!
What is your favorite thing about Andrew? One of the things that has always impressed me about Andrew is how generously he gives. Whether it’s his time, money, or anything else, he doesn’t hold back! I love his personality and how outgoing and fun he is.
How did he propose? First of all, he totally surprised me! I was hoping he would propose any day, but on the actual day I had no idea it was happening until he pulled out the ring. He basically recreated our first date. We went to St. Armands which is a little shopping district by the beach in Sarasota and got ice cream. Then we went and sat on the beach and he started talking about how we went there for our first date and the next thing I knew he pulled out the ring!
What do you have planned for your big day? We are getting married in our hometown of Sarasota, Florida. We are going to get married in a church and then have the reception in this really pretty event venue. I’ve been doing a lot of DIY projects for the decor as well as making my bouquet and the boutonnieres and corsages. I’m really excited to see how it all comes together! It’s coming up so fast and I still feel like I have a lot to do, but I know it will all turn out beautifully!
What’s your favorite type of music? I love country music! Depending on my mood I usually listen to that or to Christian music from Bethel, Steffany Gretzinger or Needtobreathe.
Are you a big reader? Yes! When I was younger I used to read all. the. time. Lately it’s been hard to read as much since life has been a lot busier, but I try to read as much as I can. I’ve been listening to audiobooks more because I can listen to them while I am the gym or cleaning the house.
