6 Girls’ Getaway Weekend Essentials

July 23, 2015 by A Savory Feast 29 Comments

This weekend I’ll be heading to a girls’ getaway weekend with one of my blogging friends, Mandy from Mandy Living Life. Today I’m talking about some of the items I’m packing that are essential for any girl’s getaway weekend. 6 Girls' Getaway Essentials

I’ve been excited to finally meet some of my blogging friends recently! A couple weekends ago I met up with Amanda from Life with Grace for a trip to Ikea. This weekend Mandy will be traveling to Florida, and we included a blogging meet up with some Tampa Bay area bloggers in our plans. When you have spent months or even years reading each other’s blogs, helping each other and emailing back and forth, it’s so fun to be able to finally meet in person!

Mandy and I have lots of fun things planned for this weekend. Stay tuned in the coming weeks to hear about what to do and where to eat in St. Petersburg, Florida. I’ll be posting lots of updates on Instagram, so be sure you are following me!

When it comes to packing, I am always super organized and like to get it done ahead of time instead of waiting until the last minute. Check out a few of the things I’m packing to make our trip even better.

Camera

You’ll definitely want to document all the fun you have on your girl’s trip. It’s especially important when you are exploring a new area. You could just use the camera on your phone, or pack a bigger camera if you are willing to carry it around.

Pool Gear

What’s a girls weekend without spending some time relaxing by the hotel pool or visiting the beach? Be sure to bring some towels, swimsuits and sunscreen. Since Mandy has never been here before, I’m excited to show her the beach here! Nature Valley Bars

Snacks

Having some filling and healthy snacks packed can make the trip so much better! For our trip this weekend, we will be trying a lot of new restaurants. I am planning to save some money on snacks and be prepared for late night munchies with these Nature Valley Simple Nut Bars.

Be sure to pack some snacks that you can keep in the car or in your purse for on-the-go snacking. The Nut Bars I packed don’t have any chocolate or other ingredients that would get melt-y in the Florida heat.

Card Games

I love playing games, and I always have at least one in my car at all times! You never know when it will come in handy. Packing a card game like Uno or a smaller board game can be a great way to pass time while waiting at the hotel in between activities.

Tote Bag

Whenever I travel, I always pack an extra tote bag. It always comes in handy for shopping, storing dirty laundry or spending the afternoon at the beach. You’ll definitely be glad to have it just in case!

Itinerary

Before your trip, it’s important to spend some time researching the area and coming up with some ideas for what to do. Pack a list of must-see sights, places you would like to visit and restaurants you want to try. You don’t have to plan out the entire trip down to each hour, but having at least a few ideas will keep you from wasting time trying to figure out what to do next.

I’m really excited for it! I haven’t had a vacation in forever and it will be so nice to take a little break. We need to get together for a game night! You know, if you feel like flying here 😉

Now I want to go on a girl’s trip. The last one I took was a road trip to San Antonio for a concert. It has been too long. The only thing I’d add to this list is wine! Haha! =)

St. Pete is one of my favorite hot spots in Florida. I recommend the Saturday morning market. I live in Orlando. I also recommend seeing the Pink Palace. It is a great spot for photos. Have fun!

I really should invest in a waterproof case for my phone or a waterproof camera. – We have so much fun by the water and I miss out documenting it. 🙁

I love my lifeproof case! I’ve had one for years and my phone has never broken when I’ve dropped it or gotten wet. It’s nice, too, because they have a great warranty on them. I’ve gotten new cases when mine start to get old and break.

When I go away on a small little getaway I also like to pack moist wipes and mists that way I can stay cool and not sticky from all the heat!!
