Do you have business cards for your blog? It’s something I put off at first. I didn’t think I’d need them until I went to a big blog conference. A few months ago I went to a blogger meet up and was the only one without them!
After that, I started to notice other opportunities to hand them out, and decided it was worth the investment.
I wanted my business cards to look professional and match my blog. I am not very good with graphic design, so I decided to get some help. I knew my friend Madison of Grace + Vine Studios was perfect for the job!
Not only did Madison do a great job of designing my cards, but she also was great with any questions I had about them. For example, I wasn’t sure which social media accounts I should include on the cards. She told me that it would keep the card looking clean and organized if I only included the accounts with the same handle.
Having business cards helps to give you a more professional feel and shows people that you are serious! They are a great way to spread the word and remind people to visit your site.
Ever since I got my cards in the mail, I’ve been looking for creative ways to hand them out. Here are 5 easy ways that you can hand out your blog business cards.
#1: Bring them to conferences and blogger meet-ups.
I put this first because it is the most important reason to have blog business cards! When you attend a conference or meet-up, you will meet lots of other bloggers, and business cards are a great way to connect later on.
To help put a face to the name, I like to have a small picture of myself on my business cards. It’s also good to keep the colors and logos consistent between your blog and your business cards.
#2: Hand them out when your blog comes up in conversation.
I’m always surprised at how interested and excited my friends are when I mention that I am a blogger. They always say that they want to check out my site, but without business cards, I didn’t have anything to give them so they would remember.
Friends and family are some of the biggest supporters of your blog, so the more of them you have, the better!
#3: Give them to your biggest fans to hand out.
Some of my biggest supporters, like my boyfriend, my best friends and my mom love to brag about my blog! I gave them a few of my cards so that they can give them out to anyone who is interested.
#4: Include them in any letters or packages you send to other bloggers.
I have hosted a number of giveaways on my blog, and I always include a note when I mail the prize to the winner. Now that I have business cards, I can include one with the note. Oftentimes I have found that the winners of my giveaways visit my blog more often, and a business card is a great way to remind them to stop by.
#5: Leave them around town.
If you have a craft/DIY blog, see if you can leave a business card at your local craft store’s community board. If you have a food blog, you might be able to leave cards at a grocery store or farmer’s market.
What are some creative ways that you hand out your blog business cards?

Where do you get your inspiration for your blog?
I find inspiration for my blog everywhere. It’s usually found over a cup of hot tea or coffee on the front deck. Anything can spark inspiration, a color, a piece of clothing, an old memory.
What is your favorite holiday dessert?
My favorite holiday dessert is pecan pie. It’s so good! I love how the crunch of the pecans intertwine with the sweet gooey taste of the filling and the flaky crust… Now I want a piece of pie!
Is your house decorated yet?
Yes, I decorated after Thanksgiving. I love decorating for Christmas. It is my favorite holiday & I love laying on the couch with the lights off and taking a nap on the couch in the Christmas lights.

Your business cards are so cute! I haven’t jumped on the business card bandwagon just yet but it’s on my to-do list for 2015! I love the idea of including them with packages, notes, etc. and giving them to family and friends to hand out!

I love having them! They are so important for blogger meet ups or conferences, too.

I just went to my first blogger meetup on Tuesday night and I was so surprised how many of the bloggers had business cards! Like you I was thinking I wouldn’t need them until I went to a bigger conference. I’m going to put them on my list of things to do for 2015. =) And #4 makes a good point because they would have been useful to use with the gift swaps I just did.
Jenna Brussee says
That exact thing happened to me when I went to a meetup. It’s so helpful to be able to take home business cards to remember who you met.

Adorable cards! When I made my business cards, I actually changed a couple social media accounts just so they would all match on my cards. They look so clean that way! I keep ending up giving them out in conversations at the grocery store (the spice section seems to be a popular one for meeting random neighbors) or having people ask me for extras so they can share with a friend.
Jenna Brussee says
It definitely looks much better to have all the accounts the same! I’m glad I did that from the beginning without even meaning to.
Stephanie @Sustaining the Powe says
My problem is that SustainingthePowers is too many characters for a few of the social media sites, so I had to use a few different handles when I signed up. I ended up just merging them to the shorter one.

I believe that Madison did a great job in truly encapsulation both the vibe and the vision of your blog in your business cards. They look amazing! Here is to greater partnerships and an expanded network!

Thank you! She really did a great job.

These are really good tips, and I love your cards Jenna! 🙂 I don’t have business cards yet because my blog isn’t really a business, but it’s such a good idea to have all your contacts on a handy little card to give to people.
Jenna Brussee says
Thank you! Even if you don’t consider your blog a “business,” it’s still nice to have the cards to help you grow!

Yours turned out great! I think handing them when your blog comes up in conversation is a particularly good idea. I definitely talk about blogging with random people I meet, it would come in handy to be able to give them my website in a form they could remember!
Jenna Brussee says
Yes! My blog comes up a lot and I think that people forget to actually go check it out unless they have something to remind them.
Kristi says
LOVE your cards Jenna!!! Sounds like I’m going to have to get me some business cards!

Thank you! You definitely should. It was completely worth it for me.

These are such good ideas, Jenna!! I just made some business cards (only a few of them at Office Depot) a couple months ago and I need to be better at using them! Thanks for all these good tips to get me started! 🙂
Jenna Brussee says
I hope you can use these ideas! That is smart to get a few made at Office Depot. I’m sure that was a lot less expensive!

I would love to have business cards one day, but I’m waiting til I can make the investment for a custom web design too. I don’t want to end up with a bunch of business cards that no longer match my blog! Yours are absolutely beautiful, btw!
Jenna Brussee says
That’s smart! I knew I would be sticking with my design for awhile, so I was willing to invest in matching cards. Thanks!

Thanks, Megan! I didn’t realize how useful business cards are until I got them.
