These spots could be dirtier than you think! Here are 5 Areas of Your Kitchen To Deep Clean This Spring.
Spring is here, and it’s a great time to deep clean your kitchen! There are a few areas that can get pretty dirty, so today I’m going to show you how I get them nice and clean.
I use my kitchen all the time, so it’s really important to me that it stays clean. I have a daily routine for keeping everything clean, but every so often I have to go a little further with some deep cleaning.
To get started with my Spring cleaning, I picked up a few of my favorites over at Target. I always use Finish All in 1 and Jet-Dry Rinse Aid in my dishwasher, and I like to keep Lysol Disinfectant Spray on hand to quickly sanitize.
Oven and Microwave
The oven and microwave were definitely the messiest areas for me. Food drips in the oven or splatters in the microwave so I have to do a deep cleaning here pretty often.
I like to use natural products in these areas since I cook in them, so I wiped the microwave down with vinegar and paper towels.
Next, I moved to the oven and used this method to get it super clean. It has to sit for a long time, so while it’s doing that you can move on to the other areas of the kitchen.
To clean my refrigerator, I started by going through and getting rid of all of the old and expired foods. Next, I used vinegar and paper towels to wipe down all the shelves. It’s crazy how dirty they can get with spills and crumbs!
Moving on to the dishwasher, I used this chance to refill my rinse aid dispenser with Finish. If your dishwasher is full, run it with Finish All in 1. I found this great tutorial for cleaning your dishwasher once it’s empty.
Somehow food scraps manage to get past the garbage bag and make my trash can stink. Every so often I’ll take it outside and rinse it out.
Once it dries, I use any Lysol spray and paper towels to really clean and sanitize it. Going forward, each time I change out the garbage bag I spray the can with Lysol Disinfectant Spray to kill germs and get rid of odors.
Cabinets and Drawers
Another area that can get dusty and collect food crumbs are the drawers and cabinets. At least once a year, I like to take everything out and wipe down the cabinet shelves and the drawers.
I also take a damp rag and wipe down the outside of the cabinets, too. They get dusty and sometimes food drips or splatters get on them. A quick wipe-down will make them look fresh and clean!
To finish up my deep cleaning routine, I plugged in an Air Wick Scented Oil Warmer to make my kitchen smell even fresher. I like that you can control the fragrance levels so that it’s not totally overpowering.
