I am such a snacker, and it seems like my toddler has inherited the snacking gene from me! He is constantly going to the pantry and asking for a snack.
When he first started to eat solid food, it really made me think about the snacks I was eating. I realized that ever since he was born, I had kept a lot of store-bought, processed snacks in the house because it was just easier. Those aren’t all bad necessarily, but I am trying to be more mindful of what I keep in the house.
I have been trying to stock up on more fresh fruits and veggies, nuts, and homemade snacks so that both my son and I can reach for those options when we are hungry.
Here are 10 of my favorite healthy snack ideas for toddlers!
#1 Fresh Fruit
My son has a fruit obsession lately! He can eat a whole container of fresh blueberries or raspberries in a day. Fresh fruit is so easy to give your kids for a snack because it doesn’t involve much prep work. You can cut up apple slices to dip in peanut butter. Strawberries, blueberries, raspberries or fresh melon works great for finger food.
#2 Veggies
Make it easy to offer veggies for a snack by prepping them when you get home from the store. Cut up cucumbers and keep them in a container in your fridge. Wash baby carrots so they are ready to grab.
#3 Smoothies
Smoothies are my go-to for an easy snack that is packed with nutrition! You can sneak lots of spinach or kale in without your kids even noticing! I like to keep ingredients such a frozen fruit, greek yogurt and spinach in the house. Lately I’ve been making a smoothie for both my son and I almost every day and he absolutely loves them.
#4 Popsicles
There are so many ways to make healthy homemade popsicles. You can make them using fruit, such as my Mixed Berry Popsicles. You can even freeze fruit juice in a ice cube tray with popsicle sticks for a super easy snack.
#5 Gummies
Store-bought gummies are packed with sugar. Making your own at home can be so much healthier! My favorite easy recipe is my Mixed Berry and Spinach Gummies. These last for about a week in the fridge. My toddler goes crazy for these!
#6 Mini Muffins
Use your favorite muffin recipe but bake it in a mini muffin tin for a great hand-held toddler snack! One of our favorites are these Applesauce Muffins. Muffins double as a quick breakfast option or a snack.

#7 Energy Bites
Energy bites are another snack idea that is really versatile! You can make them with whatever you have in the house and customize them to fit your toddler’s favorite flavors. These Peanut Butter Dark Chocolate Energy Bites are really yummy!
#8 Applesauce
Once I figured out how easy it is to make homemade applesauce, I rarely buy it from the store! You can customize the flavor too by adding in other fruits, plus you can make it without all the added sugar that the store-bought versions often contain. Try my Pear & Apple Sauce recipe!
#9 Yogurt
Yogurt makes a great snack by itself, but it can be used to make some healthy, homemade snacks too. These Yogurt Bites are super simple to make. You could also dip fresh fruit in yogurt and freeze, or make yogurt popsicles!

#10 Healthy “Cookies”
William and I recently made these Banana & Cinnamon Biscuits together. It was so fun to roll out the dough and let William help me cut out shapes using cookie cutters. They are sweetened with fruit instead of sugar but you can still pretend they are cookies.
